Nvidia is hiring a
Linux Kernel Engineer

US, CA, Santa Clara • 2 Locations
Full time

We are now looking for a Linux Kernel Engineer! Come join our Android software platform team that designs and builds industry-leading technologies for automotive infotainment products. NVIDIA’s invention of the GPU in 1999 fueled the growth of the PC gaming market, redefined modern computer graphics, and revolutionized parallel computing. More recently, GPU deep learning ignited modern AI — the next era of computing — with the GPU acting as the brain of computers, robots, and self-driving cars that can perceive and understand the world. Today, we are increasingly known as “the AI computing company.” We're looking to grow our company, and build our teams with the hardest working people in the world. Join us at the forefront of technological advancement.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Design documentation, quick prototyping, code review, build process and test automation while leading the activities, communication and collaboration vital for successful product releases.

  • Deep dive into Android system software stacks which interact with the whole Android platform and NVIDIA DRIVE OS stacks for automotive.

  • As a kernel engineer in team, you will design, develop, and debug functional aspects of Linux kernel internals on top of NVIDIA CPU and GPU technologies.

  • Performance engineering is also a meaningful area where your crucial contribution is encouraged for the best user experiences.

What we need to see:

  • In-depth expertise on Linux kernel internals (CPU scheduling, memory management, file systems, I/O systems and virtualization)

  • Proven track record of strong software development

  • Strong skills in kernel performance, memory usage and I/O throughputs analysis and improvement

  • Hands-on experience on root causing kernel functional issues and panics/stability issues

  • Rich experiences on ARM SoC/x86 kernel development and debugging

  • Excellent C/C++/Rust and ARM/x86 assembly programming skills

  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals and problem solving skills

  • 5+ years experience in software development teams

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience

  • Proactive and able to work efficiently across different functional teams

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Contribution to Linux kernel open source projects

  • Experience on Android platform development (especially, Android Automotive)

  • Cross domain knowledge on embedded system software and hardware

  • Experience in productization of large-scale end user devices
