Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Monetization Lead to lead our Monetization Team and develop innovative strategies that drive revenue growth for VRChat and its creators. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Monetization Lead will be responsible for our core monetization products, including VRC Plus premium subscriptions and the Creator Economy, where creators can earn real money within the VRChat platform.

Job & Team Impact

As the Monetization Lead at VRChat, you will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth and shaping the future of our platform. Leading a dedicated monetization team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative monetization strategies for our VRC+ premium subscription and Creator Economy. Your expertise in virtual economies, e-commerce, gaming, and social platforms will have a direct and lasting impact on the success of VRChat, helping to create a thriving and sustainable ecosystem for our users and creators.

Duties & Responsibilities

    • Develop and execute short and long-term monetization strategies to increase revenue for VRChat, with a focus on VRC Plus premium subscriptions and the Creator Economy. 
    • Lead and manage a high-performing Monetization Team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Design, and Marketing) to develop and implement monetization initiatives. 
    • Champion data-driven decision-making to optimize product monetization and user experience.
    • Own and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and leverage data insights to drive growth and identify new revenue opportunities.
    • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in virtual economies, e-commerce, gaming, and social platforms to inform strategic decisions.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including creators, partners, and the broader VRChat community.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

    • 6+ years of experience in monetization, product management, or a related field, with a strong focus on virtual economies, e-commerce, gaming, and social platforms. 
    • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and successfully managing monetization initiatives. 
    • Deep understanding of virtual economies and the unique challenges and opportunities they present. 
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience building and leading high-performing teams. 
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus across diverse teams and stakeholders. 
    • Passion for VRChat's mission and a strong desire to make a positive impact on the community.

    • Passionate about user-generated content, virtual worlds, VR, social platforms and/or gaming
