The Advanced Technology Group (ATG) at NVIDIA is an organization of process, CAD, and design engineers that works closely with key foundry partners and internal design groups. The team defines and prototypes advanced process, design, and yield methodologies and ensures product groups are well-positioned for the next generation. We are looking to hire a skilled and creative a Senior Silicon Photonics Design Engineer to help achieve these goals.  As a member of our Mixed-Signal/Photonics team, you will be leading device definition, design, and modelling of opto-electronics. Strong hands-on experience in the lab with device validation, and characterization is desired.

What you’ll be doing:

  • You will be part of the design and implementation of devices within a versatile mixed signal design team

  • Work with our foundry partners on advanced opto-electronic technologies

  • Photonic device design, modelling, model validation, simulation, and characterization

  • Design of experiments for tailoring devices and measuring tolerances

  • Lead mask designers, provide mentorship for floorplan and layout design

  • Provide support to the lab characterization of silicon and pursue the challenges of circuit design in leading edge technologies

  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams

What we need to see:

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).

  • 8+ years of design experience (including academics) in photonics and/or CMOS mixed-signal

  • Someone who's an exceptional teammate with good interpersonal skills

  • Validated experience in leading and mentoring designers

  • Silicon photonics device design, fabrication, and characterization

  • High-speed optical couplers, modulators, lasers, and detectors

  • Electrical and optical testing and statistical data analysis

  • Lab experience with high-speed test equipment

  • The candidate must be highly experienced with simulation tools such as Ansys Lumerical, ZeMax, proficient in CAD tools such as Cadence, MATLAB, Python and Verilog-A scripting

  • Familiarity with modern CMOS fabrication processes and concept is strongly preferred

The base salary range is $156,000 - $287,500. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.
