The Hypervisor and RTOS Team within NVIDIA DRIVE Software plays a critical role in NVIDIA's expansion into the world of artificial intelligence and autonomous vehicles. Our job is to facilitate the sharing and separation of system resources while achieving real-time, safety, and security requirements. We develop HV and RTOS with a strong focus on automotive quality, safety and security needed for the real-time, highly-available system level components of world-class Autonomous Vehicles. We are hiring now for the position of Senior System Software Engineer to help us provide best in class developer experience to HV and RTOS user application and driver developers, and system integrators. What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop and maintain run-time infrastructure to debug User Processes and Virtual Machines

  • Develop and maintain run-time infrastructure to profile execution and resource utilization of User Processes, Virtual Machines, along with HV and RTOS kernel and run-time services

  • Design and develop data formats, transport layers, interaction mechanisms and security features to support different data gathering and processing use cases, from non-intrusive debugging of a live production system to large data collection and offline analysis

  • Integrate back-end HV and RTOS infrastructure with various front-end solutions for data visualization and interactive debugging

  • Work with different engineering teams within NVIDIA to continuously gather feedback, propose and design solutions to improve HV and RTOS developer experience

  • Work with hardware architecture team to develop new hardware capabilities to support HV and RTOS profiling and debugging needs

  • End-to-end implementation of tools and HV and RTOS run-time features complying to automotive safety and security standards

What we need to see:

  • BS, MS in CS/CE/EE or a related engineering field or equivalent experience

  • 12+ years of experience

  • Proficiency in C, C++ and Python

  • Strong knowledge of Operating System Fundamentals, CPU architectures

  • Deep understanding of developer tools: code analysis, compilers, linkers and loaders

  • Experience in debugging complex systems with multiple threads, CPUs, accelerators and chips

  • Track record of building tools and utilities to improve and automate software development.

  • Clear, concise communication skills
     

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Knowledge of RISC-V, Arm assembly

  • Experience in developing custom GDB stubs and transports, LLVM/Clang plugins

  • Background in developing ptrace or ftrace like infrastructure

  • Experience in designing custom data formats, offline parsers and dynamic filters

  • Knowledge of Automotive quality standards, ASPICE, ISO 26262, ISO 21434

  • Hands-on experience with formal verification methods and tools, such as Ada/SPARK and TLA+
