We are now looking for a System Characterization Engineer, to join the Data Center Systems Validation Engineering Group. Working in the team, you will be responsible for developing our datacenter characterization strategy. You will work as part of a team with board design, circuit design, architects, system & silicon validation and other partners to ensure successful product development with daring product cycles. The qualified candidate should be familiar in a lab environment, and should demonstrate a passion towards creation, execution and improvement of plans that help bring products to market at the speed-of-light.

What you'll be doing:

  • Combine System Engineering Sensibilities and Knowledge of Silicon Characterization and Operations to build a manufacturing to field system characterization strategy.

  • Leverage different silicon and system-level telemetries and other data to identify baselines and drive experiments and analysis to understand outliers.

  • Define and drive data and reporting requirements with architecture, design, manufacturing, reliability, application engineering and validation teams. Develop packages and procedures that enable other teams contribute to the wider data sets.

  • Perform system level margin analysis and correlate results across different engineering groups. Scope dashboards metric and reporting schemes. Perform or drive root cause analysis activity on outliers and issues through system or silicon level experiments.

  • Characterize system level performance indicators using a mix of benchmarks and practical applications

What we need to see:

  • Experience running datacenter applications and exercisers.

  • Knowledge of out-of-band system management

  • BS or MS degree in EE/CE or equivalent experience.

  • 10+ yrs of relevant proven experience.

  • Strong problem solving, debugging, analysis and logical reasoning skills with examples to prove it.

  • Deep knowledge in either system or silicon: Characterization, Validation, and Manufacturing.

  • Previous experience developing Fmax and Vmin guard bands.

  • Basic scripting skills (Python, Perl & Shell) to develop tools as needed.

Ways To Stand Out From The Crowd:

  • Experience with semiconductor fabrication and reliability

  • Knowledge of PLLs/DLLs, Voltage Regulators, and Power Management Techniques

  • Experience with benchmarking

  • Knowledge of system RAS engineering

  • Experience with data visualization and interpretation

  • Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills.

The base salary range is $180,000 - $339,250. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.
