US, CA, Santa Clara • 2 Locations • US, CA, Santa Clara
Full time

We are now looking for Systems Engineer in the Datacenter Systems & Board Design Team to support triage, debug and repairs of NVIDIA's datacenter products used by our internal developers working toward production release. This newest member will collaborate with an innovative multidisciplinary world-class team of engineers to help build and develop our industry leading GPU accelerated computing products. This role will debug prototype systems involving sophisticated system level hardware and software. System level performance testing is accomplished using industry leading Deep Learning/AI applications. In this role you will gain a deep understanding of datacenter products as we take on the challenge to solve complex technical issues, so there will be plenty of opportunity for learning new skills related to datacenter products and infrastructure.

The primary responsibility is to support our engineering teams during development to ensure outstanding quality GPU server products may be released to the market and delight our customers so that AI scientists and datacenter operators can achieve their professional aspirations using NVIDIA technology. Systems Engineers are the first internal "customer" for early instances of a new technology and help clear the path for our external customers by insuring our products deliver optimum usability, quality and deployability. The new Systems Engineer will work independently to complete daily tasks according to priorities, demonstrate a passion towards system level product quality, and should be comfortable in an engineering lab environment.

What you'll be doing:

  • Perform prototype bring-ups, tackle tough system and board level issues.

  • Run system tests. Collect and report on testing results. Screen modules and boards as part of testing and debug.

  • Create and develop test plans for new features on each product. Recommend improvements to enable automated scripting for testing and archiving of results.

  • Work closely with architecture and design teams to ensure products under development are functional, serviceable, manufacturable, and reliable.

  • Provide close partnership and support for validation engineers and participate in collaborative development efforts with firmware and software engineers to test products in development.

  • Review proposed design changes to assess impact to testing plans and tasks.

What We Need to See:

  • MS-BS/EE required (Masters preferred) in Applied Science or Engineering or equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of overall experience.

  • Previous engineering experience in a product-development environment.

  • Fundamental knowledge of computing architectures and relevant hands-on hardware/software debug experience.

  • Familiarity with the Linux operating system, CLI shells, programming, and scripting.

  • Experience using Cadence Allegro Schematic Design Entry (Concept HDL) design tools and Allegro PCB Layout.

  • Experience with BMC, server management processors.

  • Experience with x86/ARM architectures and accelerated GPU computing.

  • Background with Tektronix and Agilent oscilloscopes along with debugging techniques to analyze board level design issues.

  • Background with system level validation, I/O interconnect, PCI-Express high-speed data switches.

  • Background in DC/DC power supply design.

  • Good attention to detail, as well as clear written and verbal communications.
